What appears below is the Introduction
from the book.
Welcome to “The 7 Tiers of Life ”, my seventh book. Thank you for
choosing this book.
On the seventh day of the seventh month of the seventh year of 21st
century, I decided to write seven poems.
The idea behind the poems was inspired by the symbolism of all of
the sevens. The prospect of writing seven poems in one day was
something that I had done on more than one occasion before, so it
was considered within my ability.
The idea of writing all of the poems about life came to me a few
days before the day in question.
On the seventh, I found myself limited by time due to a previous
arrangement to attend a birthday for twin six year olds in the
afternoon.
At late notice, I also needed to spend up to three hours in the
morning, helping a friend repair my motor car.
So, while the idea of writing seven poems seemed totally within my
capacity, the additional obligations I have mentioned limited the
available time to write considerably.
To start in the spirit with the seventh of the seventh of the
seventh, I set my mobile phone alarm to wake me at 07:07.
Knowing what lay ahead of me on this day, I quickly got out of bed,
and headed to the kitchen. I sat down and began writing the poem.
After completing the second poem, I paused for breakfast. On
finishing breakfast, I realised that I did not have enough time to
continue.
As I headed out to go to my friends, I wondered how I was going to
complete the rest of the poems in the time available.
This is where the Universe stepped in to help. A vital part needed
to repair the motor vehicle was not available, and consequently, my
friend and I could not do any work on the car.
As luck would have it, I was able to return home, and over the next
three hours or so, complete the rest of these poems.
It was only many hours later, even the next day, that I realised
that, I had in fact, written a book. There was enough content in
these poems to transfer them into a book.
What you see before you, is the seven poems written on the one day.
The theme behind this book is to look at life as a series of tiers.
Each tier leads onto the next.
I invite you to read “The 7 Tiers of Life”.
